Barbara Ekno was born in San Francisco, attended the Academy of
Art, San
Francisco City College and San Francisco State University. Her
current body of work focuses on abstract, mixed media paintings.
Ekno works with acrylic and latex paint, paper and watercolors
on canvas
combining
unusual papers. Abstract block forms, seen in much of her work
represent human figures.
Michael Kirschel, a resident of the Bay Area,
has studied with painters
Ovlanes Berberian and Sunny Apinchapong-Yang in the tradition
of the master Russian American colorist Sergei Bongart. Kirschel's
still life oil paintings are
lively and fresh coming from years of classical and experimental
study from
life.
